I loved the Jersey Girl Legal Mystery series, having become a huge fan of snarky Sandy – see my reviews of And Justice for Mall, Inherit the Shoes, Witness for the Persecution, My Cousin Skinny and Good Lieutenant. And I’ve enjoyed the previous two books in the Fran and Ken Stein series – see my reviews of Ukele of Death and Same Difference. So it was a no-brainer that I’d tuck into this third and final offering in this quirky series.

I’ve only read one book by this author – The Scorpio Races. Despite having some flaws, this one has stayed in my memory due to the vivid scene setting and superb production of the audiobook. So when I saw this one come up on the Netgalley dashboard – I immediately requested it. Apart from anything else, the blurb sounds fascinating.

It’s been a busy week as I had a birthday. While they’re not as welcome as they used to be – I’m convinced there’s been a cosmic admin error, as I can’t possibly be THIS old – it was fun. Last Sunday I ticked off one of my bucket list activities when we took part in an Escape Room adventure. It was a murder mystery set in a hotel in the 1930s where we had to find out who had killed a beautiful young actress, why, how and where her body had been hidden. It was great fun and the boys in particular really got stuck in so we managed to complete the task with two minutes to spare.
